June is a lovely time to visit the Berkshires. The hills are green, the trails are open, and the region's summer season is getting started. Mornings and evenings in the mountains can still be cool, so it's a great month for hiking, exploring, and spending time outside.
If you're planning a June trip to western Massachusetts, here's a guide to things to do in and around Hancock and Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, starting with a long weekend of yoga in the mountains. Hours and dates change from year to year, so check each place's own website before you go.
Berkshire Yoga Festival: June 10–13, 2027

Summer fun at Jiminy Peak
Jiminy Peak isn't just for skiing. In summer, the resort opens its Mountain Adventure Park, with a Mountain Roller Coaster, Alpine Super Slide, scenic chair ride to the summit, Euro Bungy Trampoline, rock climbing wall, ropes course, mountain biking, and hiking trails. There's also an Aerial Adventure Park, a self-guided ropes course through the trees with rope bridges, cargo nets, and ziplines.
It's a great option if you're traveling with family. Kids may be able to enjoy the parks while you're in class, depending on park hours (there's no childcare, so plan for supervision, and book activities directly with Jiminy Peak). Height requirements apply.
Park hours vary through the season, so check Jiminy Peak's summer hours before you go.
Hike Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts
At 3,491 feet, Mount Greylock is the highest point in Massachusetts. On a clear day, you can see as far as 90 miles from the top. The Mount Greylock State Reservation has trails that range from casual to very difficult, plus scenic driving and viewing areas.
In June, the auto roads to the summit are usually open, and the Veterans War Memorial Tower at the top is open daily from Memorial Day weekend into October, weather permitting. The Visitor Center in Lanesborough is open daily. Check Mass.gov for 2027 road dates before you head up.
If you love the mountain, you can stay close to it. Mt. Greylock Campsite Park is about 5 miles east of Jiminy Peak, near the base of the mountain. See more on our camping page.
Step back in time at Hancock Shaker Village
Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield is a museum where you can explore historic Shaker buildings, including the Round Stone Barn, wander the gardens and grounds, and walk the mile-long Farm & Forest Trail, which has signs along the way.
The Village is open for its season from spring through late fall, so it's a nice stop on a June day. Check their site for 2027 hours and admission.
See world-class dance at Jacob's Pillow
Jacob's Pillow in Becket is home to the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, with performances on indoor and outdoor stages each summer. The festival has been running for more than 90 summers, and it brings dance companies from around the world.
The 2026 festival ran June 24 to August 30, so the 2027 season will likely start just after BYF. Check their site for 2027 dates. It's a wonderful reason to extend your trip by a few days.
Music at Tanglewood
Tanglewood in Lenox is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Its summer season typically begins in late June (the 2026 season ran June 21 to September 2). Check the BSO's site for 2027 dates. If you're staying in the region after the festival, an evening on the lawn is a classic Berkshires summer experience.
Eat, shop, and relax
At the festival, you can refuel with coffee, fresh juice, snacks, and meals around Jiminy Peak, including vegetarian and vegan options. See food and dining. The BYF Vendor Village also brings together wellness brands, artisans, and local businesses from the region.
